Adebayo Oyagbola

ADEBAYO OYAGBOLA LLM, LLB, BL, MCIARB

Bayo Oyagbola is a seasoned Legal practitioner with 35 years of experience in active legal practice. He obtained both an LL.B hons degree and an LL.M degree from the University College, London. He is accomplished in advanced Company Law, Intellectual Property, Carriage of Goods by Sea and Marine Insurance.

He understands the internal workings of Public Sector organisations having worked and prosecuted cases for the Legal Section of the Nigerian Customs and Excise. He was also a technical expert in the firm of Bentley Edu & Co where he was engaged in commercial litigation and intellectual property practice. He founded Oyagbola Chambers in 1987 and has managed it since 1989. In 1997, he led Oyagbola Chambers in acting as solicitors to the offer for sale of shares by which Standard Chartered Bank completed its divestment from First Bank of Nigeria Plc. It was the biggest offer for sale that had been done on the Nigerian Stock Exchange at the time. He has led several other corporate structuring and restructuring engagements.

He was a member of the Ogun State Law Revision/Review Committee for twelve years from 1999. He was one of the 5-man committee that prepared the Laws of Ogun State 2006. He also served as a member of the Ogun State Judicial Service Commission for three years. Internationally, he has lectured for the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) on copyright and confidential Information.

He has written several published articles on Intellectual Property, Telecommunications Law, Banking and general procedure. For several years, he was a lecturer at diverse seminars on Banking litigation and lenders’ liability.
